Musical mondays

for Christine, sorta

This is the acoustic version, where she uses the dulcimer....which I think is a neat instrument. Unfortunately, the clip comes from the Martha Stewart show.

For those who just cant let the original go...here is the original video in all its glory (which I really like)

"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
and think of you
caught up in circles confusion--
is nothing new
Flashback--warm nights--
almost left behind
suitcases of memories,
time after--

sometimes you picture me--
I'm walking too far ahead
you're calling to me, I can't hear
what you've said--
Then you say--go slow--
I fall behind--
the second hand unwinds

chorus:
if you're lost you can look--and you will find me
time after time
if you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting
time after time

after my picture fades and darkness has
turned to gray
watching through windows--you're wondering
if I'm OK
secrets stolen from deep inside
the drum beats out of time--

chorus:
if you're lost...

you said go slow--
I fall behind
the second hand unwinds--

chorus:
if you're lost...
...time after time
time after time
time after time
time after time

The Day

Well, I figured since Mom never gets real detailed or posts about.... just life, I figured I'd do it for her.... considering I've already hacked into her account. I think I'll do it with nice spacing and correct punctuation too.

So, here is an overly detailed account of the day. Pretty uneventful, but since I'm here...

Mom woke up early as usual. I've no idea what time, but I was woken up by the barking of my sister's dog alarm clock thing.

Mom was on the computer, probably doing the tax things again for our stupid uncle whom I'm somewhat annoyed with at the moment. I got myself some fried rice breakfast. I made the mistake of giving the dog all of the meat that was in the fried rice.

Later on we went to Old Navy. That store was pretty amazing since I found jeans that fit on the first try. Mom didn't find anything, however. That sucks. Bekah found pants, but they were too big. When we went to pay, the two little ones tried throwing everything they could find in the cart. We didn't need a surfboard chew toy for the dog. The dog will only use one chew toy anyways.

We packed up and moved along to the grocery store. Children were running around so I finally just picked up Bekah and put her in the cart. She whined. Nathan eventually started running around so I picked him up and carried him like a baby which only made him scream and cry. Mom wandered around finding everything and eventually took Nathan, still holding him like a baby. We checked out and went home.

Stuff went on downstairs, but I don't know what. Children fought and Mom did something on the computer. I napped, practiced, and/or listened to music.

Dad came home and my parents made dinner. The two of them had a good time making awful jokes about the littered-with-presents backyard. Before dinner, too. Yuck.

Dinner was good, but I would've liked onions thrown into my burrito. Mom forgot cheese in her burrito. Nathan wouldn't eat as usual.

We went to Starbucks later on and Mom insisted on putting the game on the radio. What an addict. I ordered the load of stuff this family drinks and something for myself. Why? I don't know. It was tea since I don't drink coffee, but it still wasn't even very good.

As my sister and I waited in line for our drinks to be called (Mom ran down to the bank), she started going insane. She heard the word 'stickers' mentioned and started demanding them. The employees down there have some inside joke about stickers and sometimes place them on cups. She begged and pleaded too many times to count for said stickers, but the employee didn't hear her since she was making drinks using the loud machine. The guy I was standing near looked down at her and told her he could get her stickers. He went over and asked an employee and they gave him the whole thing of stickers. He let her pick one and gave it back. She ended up with some deer.

We all went home and sipped drinks. Bekah had to write some standards that I doubt she ever finished. She's finally asleep and I think only got to sleep a half hour ago.

I think everyone but myself is asleep....

Maybe I'll find something great to post later...

Oh, by the way, Mom.... I need a new computer recharger. Kthnx.

You Know

I say witty things all the time. Clever things too. Witty and clever.... Clever and witty.... Clevitty.

But does anyone listen?

Nooo.... Why would someone ever do that?

When she finally decides to listen it's only when I repeat what someone else has said!

I could quote her, but the only things that have come out of her mouth today disgust me. Talk of sucking the presents the dog has left in the backyard through a straw, boobs that quack like ducks, etc.

I leave you with this little gem from season two...

She was just DYING to get a quote

SOOOO

here it is:

" I'm running a dojo of coolness."

I IM'd her early to go with me to get coffee and this is the away message I got....

at least its not a brothel of coolness.........

Heard around the house

Mom: Rebekah, clean up the dolls and the barbies, if you are playing farm.

Rebekah: I will clean up the dolls but, Nathan is playing with the barbies right now.

Nathan: I not playing with barbies, I making them all nakey.

I look and find, yep everyone is naked.....

Ok so, I have had a bekah quote and a nathan quote...now to get the teen to say something cute and silly to post.

"Musical Mondays"

This could easily be my house....and I guess in the end, it isnt so bad....

"Watching You" by Rodney Atkins

Artist/Band: Atkins Rodney
Lyrics for Song: Watching You
Lyrics for Album: If You're Going Through Hell

Drivin’ through town just my boy and me
With a “Happy Meal” in his booster seat
Knowin’ that he couldn’t have the toy ‘til his nuggets were gone.
A green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath.
His fries went a flyin’, and his orange drink covered his lap
Well, then my 4 year old said a 4 letter word
It started with “S” and I was concerned
So I said, “Son, now where’d you learn to talk like that?”

Chorus:
He said, I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that kool?
I’m your buckaroo, I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad
I want to do everything you do.
So I’ve been watching you.

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and I prayed real hard
Said, “Lord, please help me help my stupid self.”
Just this side of bedtime later that night
Turnin’ on my son’s Scooby-doo nightlight.
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees.
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
Spoke to God like he was talkin’ to a friend.
And I said, “Son, now where’d you learn to pray like that?”

Chorus:
He said, I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that kool?
I’m your buckaroo; I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
We like fixin’ things and holding moma’s hand
Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad.
I want to do everything you do; so I’ve been watching you.

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug.
Said, “My little bear is growin’ up.”
And he said, “But when I’m big I’ll still know what to do.”

Chorus:
‘cause I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that kool?
I’m your buckaroo; I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
By then I’ll be strong as superman
We’ll be just alike, hey, won’t we dad
When I can do everything you do.
‘cause I’ve been watchin’ you.
hey yeah
uh huh

Obsessed

yes I am obsessed....

with what you ask??

gardening....

I have no yard but oh so enjoy it.....many moons ago, I dug up a large area behind my dads garage for my garden. Bush beans, broccoli, corn and hmmm carrots or radishes....although I don't care for radishes when planting size wise they work pretty good....and I know lots of people that like them.

A few years back we attempted a small container garden without too much luck....a few beans....but mostly we grew white flies.

OK I actually have been craving gardening again......been staring at the old containers and finally....a bit late in the season....I did it

Currently growing carrots, bush peas, tomatoes, and basil. Waiting for Catnip to spout. Will be planting bush beans (color trio variety), and green peppers.....
I have seeds for a few more things that Rebekah insisted we have but really lack the container space.
The carrots are a long trio of color variety....I have since learned not a good choice....hard to grow long carrots in less then ideal soil. The peas should do good as they currently look really hardy. I left the basil planting to DH and well, it has issues....he way over planted....we have ground cover, not basil plants....I tried thinning....by moving some but those moved died....but those still in the container look good. The tomatoes are two types, a 8oz tomato and a small cherry....I have read the catnip is almost weed like and is a member of the mint family....should be interesting.
I joined an email list for container gardening. I bought a container blueberry but, they wont send it to me til end of next winter (because of our zone). I also learned how to container garden corn....and pineapple...which sounds like fun.

I currently am waiting for a mini cantaloupe that is supposed to do good in containers and lemon cukes....although I don't like cukes too much, I thought we could have fun pickling them.

OH and the one that makes DH think I have flipped my lid. I ordered mushroom kits....white button and portabella.

I have also located a container avocado and nectarine....but no room for them...yes I am showing restraint.

Rebekah wants to grow cauliflower too.....I found a good container seeds for cauliflower but they were out of it...prob a good thing.

I also have broccoli seeds and radish seeds that Rebekah insisted we needed.....no where to put them tho'

Oh and I learned about SWCs....self watering containers....the authentic ones are a fortune to buy but you can make your own and sometimes buys small knock offs...(same concept, different design...but not really very big) which is what I have the catnip in and plan to put the green pepper in.

I also hear that Jalapenos are good bug repellant plants....maybe I will NEED to have some of those

HA HA HA HA

this is me....

Procrastinating (gosh that doesnt look right)
I have 3 more bank statements to enter in quickbooks, which I dont like but the accountant/BIL does.
i like Quicken....you are supposed to be able to import quicken files to quick books but BIL doesnt know how....
He didnt want my files so I stopped doing them. He called last sunday, he wants them sunday (actually he wanted me to mail them to him sooner)
I also could stand to do a bit of laundry...got a bit behind thursday go figure....and with rebekah's recital I didnt get any done today and with Fathers day tomorrow prob wont get any done then.

And all I want to do is go to bed...

did I mention my nose hurts and Its a bit black and blue? Unlike dans bruise....mine did NOT occurred under the influence of booze....and I know how it happened.....
After a decent day friday, we took nathan to the doctors and for some reason Rebekah got really riled up....
as I bent over to say you need to settle down NOW...she BOUNCED Up....into my nose.....now I have 3 kids, this isnt a first but good god it hurt.....I saw stars, black at the side of my vision, I sat down, saw stars again...wowza it hurt....and still hurts now....and right in the wrong spot (like any spot is good but this is the wrong spot....it is where the other side of the coffee mug hits your nose when you take those last few drinks)

UGH

Can I get a do over?

I have had better weeks. and this one isnt over yet....

here is just one, a very minor one of the things I have dealt with this week
http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07212.html

do you have any clue how many of these trains we had? They are now in a box waiting to go to the post office....

My son has had a lead level screening because many are missing paint....

and I am missing some of the ones on the list, by missing I mean I know I own but I cant find

My car is back from the body shop, only yesterday in the mist of a crisis, I realized the rear interior panel for access to the taillights is missing...yep missing
On my list of people to call when my new week starts.

Rebekah has a recital tomorrow....she has to be there at 10.....she usually doesnt function before 9.....

We have been to the doctors office twice this week....all of which are really minor in the scheme of things......

Tuesday and wednesday werent bad as I recall at the moment but my week is a blur....

one of these days I will blog about it. When it begins to eat me up, I will write it down. and I will feel better....

Took my a year to write it down after bethy died....but once I wrote it down it stopped haunting me. I sealed the letter and mailed it off.

This time I will write it here and try desperately not to edit it to death...as I am known to do....

for those who the curiosity is killing them, read the blog at the side titled randomness.

And yes I know I have been tagged, I will get there...but I should be in better spirits or who knows what I will decide as an answer....

Summer

subtitled why I homeschool

I was thinking about what is planned for the summer and it occurred to me, my children get to experience soooooo much....that is my favorite part about Homeschooling. It allows them the time to explore things.

Christine has learned sign language and had the opportunity to use it alot. She will be attending a silent weekend over the summer. She is also doing a summer camp at sea. They will learn how to sail and work the masts on a ship. And live on the ship for the week. They will get marine biology and astonomy too. She also has some swing dance classes lined up for the summer and a cake decorating class. In the fall at the community college, she plans to continue her sign language and take a music mixing (i think it is) class along with an art history class. She is currently upstairs practicing her bass. I think she has lessons starting this week. Maybe she will let me know HA HA. She also had a cooking class scheduled but that has been canceled.

Rebekah is taking an art class in the summer, a play gym style class...playful gymnatics (kids gym....), a hula class thru her dance studio, A dance camp (oh yah christine has that too), and a week long day camp at the discovery science center. Girl scouts is pretty much over for the summer but, that is something too I really dont think we would have time for if they were in school. I am actually looking for a few more dance or jumping type classes for rebekah. She loves to dance but with the auditory delay issues she doesnt get it as quick and I would love to give her a bit extra so she doesnt stikc out sooo much.

Nathan is taking an art class too...but, he is content and still young enough to be happy staying home with mommy.

Both Rebekah and nathan want to take Karate. That will wait til fall.

But, I just love seeing the kids explore new things and interests to THEIR hearts content....or my pocket books content....whichever comes first (it is usually the pocket book!)

Musical Mondays

"Shooting Star" by Bad Company.....
video is actually paul rodgers solo-ing the song....he was the lead singer of Bad Company at the time of the song. The only other version I can locate is Bo Bice singing it but, it isnt the whole song, only one performed for song check.

I could listen to Bad Company for hours....

Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatle song,
'Love me do,' I think it was. From there it didn't take him long.
Got himself a guitar, used to play every night,
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit,

And everything's all right, don't you know?

Johnny told his mama, hey, 'Mama, I'm goin' away. I'm gonna hit the big
time, gonna be a big star someday', Yeah.
Mama came to the door with a teardrop in her eye.
Johnny said, 'Don't cry, mama, smile and wave good-bye'.

Don't you know, yeah yeah, Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, don't you know. Don't you know that you are
a shooting star, And all the world will love you just as long,
As long as you are.

Johnny made a record, Went straight up to number one,
Suddenly everyone loved to hear him sing the song.
Watching the world go by, surprising it goes so fast.
Johnny looked around him and said, 'Well, I made the big time at last'.

Don't you know, don't you know, Don't you know that you are
a shooting star,
Don't you know, oh, yeah, Don't you know that you are
a shooting star, yeah,
And all the world will love you just as long,
As long as you are, a shooting star.

Don't you know that you are a shooting star, Don't you know, yeah,
Don't you know that you are a shooting star, now,
And all the world will love you just as long, As long you are you.

Johnny died one night, died in his bed, Bottle of whiskey,
sleeping tablets by his head. Johnny's life passed him by like a
warm summer day, If you listen to the wind you can still hear him play

Oh oh oh, Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, yeah, don't you know', Don't you know that
you are a shooting star,
Don't you know, yeah,
Don't you know that you are a shooting star,
Don't you, don't you,
don't you, don't you,
Don't you know, don't you
know, oh, yeah, you are,
Yeah, a shooting star, yeah, oh
oh oh oh oh......
Don't you, don't you know
that you are a shooting star,
Don't you don't you know......

Musical Monday

"I want a new Duck" by Weird Al
A parody of "I want a new drug" by huey lewis (right?)

I know many of you do not share my appreciation for Weird Al but isnt that the point of Musical Mondays?

Not weird al's video but better then the anime (sorry Kaleb) ones I kept finding

Woh oh

I want a new duck
One that won't try to bite
One that won't chew a hole in my socks
One that won't quack all night

I want a new duck
One with big webbed feet
One that knows how to wash my car
And keep his room real neat

One that won't raid the ice box
One that'll stay in shape
One that's never gonna try to migrate or escape
Or I'll tie him up with duck tape

I want a new duck
A mallard I think
One that won't make a mess of my house
Or build a nest in the bathroom sink

I want a new duck
One that won't steal my beer
One that won't stick his bill in my mail
One that knows the duck stops here

One that won't drive me crazy waddling all around
One who'll teach me how to swim and help me not to drown
And show me how to get down
How to get down baby

Get it?

I want a new duck
Not a swan or a goose
Just a drake I can dress real cute
Think I'm gonna name him Bruce

I want a new duck
Not a quail or an owl
One that won't molt to much
One that won't smell too fowl

One that won't beg for breadcrumbs
Hangin' around all day
He'd better mind his manners
Better do just what I say
Or he's gonna be duck patte, duck patte, yah, yah
