Well and yesterday...
After 2hrs in the car last night, we arrived in the Valley for night one of Passover....Got home at 2am...
I was awake at 745 this morning...and got out of bed about 815am.
Woke (little) kids up at 930....they ate and stuff plastic eggs for an Easter egg hunt later in the day. They stuffed them with change, hersey's eggs and starburst double flavored Jelly beans
Ivan and I made deviled eggs to bring with the eggs that cracked when I boiled eggs for dying.
Then we dumped 1 hard boiled egg in vinegar and one uncooked egg in another jar of vinegar. SCIENCE....by tomorrow noonish both should have soft jelly shells. Then we will leave the hard boiled one on the table and the shell should reabsorb what it lost and become hard again. We will place the uncooked one in a jar of water where by osmosis, it should take on so much water it explodes.
We arrived around noon. And had a great time. Nathan was hoping to find a few more of the money eggs but, he came up with a scheme to make more money....he sold his candy for the change.
On the way home, we stopped at home depot and bought killz, spackle and rollers for the upstairs bathroom....the ceiling has begun to peel...opps...fun to wash your hair then find paint chips in it. It hasnt been painted in 16 years.
We came home, Ivan and Rebekah scrapped the bathroom while Nathan and I dyed eggs in KOOL AID. That was fun and different but I still hate dying eggs. We did 6 colors and had 3 or 4 more flavors of koolaid but decided they would all be so red/pink that we had enough of that shade. Our Albertsons didnt carry the lime flavored koolaid so no green eggs. Grape eggs look like century eggs.
I took pics today I would be more then happy to share, except I never bothered to figure out the picture thing on my blog. HEY links and videos were hard enough. Koolaid eggs pictures are on my facebook.
And now I am drinking an adult Shirley Temple. We are supposed to be headed to MIL for night 2 of Passover (no seder)...at this rate my walk there might be more of a stumble....and I am out of cherry vodka....

Camp etc (updated at 2:10pm)
Tomorrow, Rebekah heads out to Camp Del Corazon and so begins the summer. We drop her off at 10am-ish tomorrow and pick up at 1pm friday.
She can't wait. She was up at 7am this morning wanting to pack. That will make for one very long day today.....as the day wears on between the lack of sleep and the heat....she is going to be one cranky girl, which leads to one cranky mommmy.
So, today's to do list:
Take sleeping bag out of box. Set flannel liner aside (will be needed for Christine's camp and later Camp Del Corazon session both on Catalina but not for this one)
Fill out camp forms
pack
grocery shopping
guess I should make a shopping list first
make DH's route for tuesday (normally monday AM chore but no time and I need to call the people before we leave tomorrow)
cut the cat nails(because he decided bright and early this morning to try and scale my backside)
cat box
I have a hundred other little things I could also do....maybe I will get to them....
filing
parts orders
voice mail
paperwork DH is supposed to give to me
laundry of course (but cant be done til packing is done...I fold clothes on my bed....same surface is used for packing)
make jam (with fruit I will buy at store #2, if it is ripe, if not this will have to wait another day)
I would like to read but, can't decide what to read next.....
What else can I ramble about?
On Friday, we saw "The Bodies Exhibit 3" at the Science Center. This one focused on hearts, sorta.....It was actually very interesting.....including smoker's lung and LEG...I had no clue there was smoker's leg. As for hearts, they had Hypertrophied heart, a VSD, a heart and its pacemaker, the abiocor LVAD and the berlin heart. They also had some arteries with CAD. They had whole bodies with just the bones and all the vessels....wow we have alot of blood vessels! Nathan had to inspect all the models to determine which were boys and which were girls. And also decided to read LOUDLY the description of the testes on display. In the end, Nathan insisted we needed a video of the exhibit. I believe the video also talks about the process used for preservation.
Our next field trip is to the Getty Center in a few weeks. I have never been there so, it should be at least interesting. I have 2 that enjoy art....although Rebekah prefers pop art (the warhol exhibit in San Diego was a hit some time back)
After that we have one planned at the Muzeo that is on Jane Goodall and her chimps. None planned at the moment for after that.....I don't have a fall calendar...and I am not sure what days Christine will be in class in the fall. When that is settled, we can work on fall trips.

updating
This will ramble....because....well life has been rambling...
I cant even recall when I last updated....
Rebekah's nose prob.
Dizzy spells are gone....
College is out for Christine for the summer....I have half of the fall forms in....working on the other half
Rebekahs dance recital is Saturday afternoon.....I wonder how long she will give me before she wants her hair cut short again.....they need it in a pony tail for the recital so, I wont let her cut it.
Gymnastics is going good. My kids love it.
Our annual picnic is over.....went really smoothly. I was happy
Rebekah learned to swim, demostrated it by spending 3hrs at a birthday party yesterday IN the water.
Nathan ran laps around the pool.....um ok...
We went to chinatown on friday for a field trip. It was a walking tour and meal. Christine tried a century egg. We have video. But she disabled embedding....check youtube for disneyschooling and then it is under her videos. The tour was alot of fun. And the meal was awesome.
We went to an angel game that night. Firework night. Nathan made a pig out of himself, eating two hot dogs.
I forgot to vote yesterday. Well I didnt know I was supposed to until DH reminded me about 530 or so....and I still managed to forget. Although I didnt really have a clue what it was on and figured it seemed like such a no brainer there must be things tacked on the propositions so prob good I didnt vote since I never read the propositions.
Rebekah's end of the year girlscout party is next week at the beach with tidepools. I have taken the kids there a few times. They enjoyed it. I liked it (not a beach person). Between a beach I am ok with and people I like, it will be fun....although a bit sad....I enjoy the adults at girl scouts.
hmmm what else have we been doing?
Oh yeah. I have been making jam....
I have blackberry and an apricot/peach/nectarine one....I want to make a berry one next (straw/rasp/blue) if my kids dont eat the berries. It is SOOOO easy! So now I make bread and jam....although I havent made the bread in awhile....maybe tomorrow....not sure in what time LOL....tomorrow is gymnastics.
My corn is growing nicely....I see tomatoes on my plants....my hot peppers FINALLY came up....now I have to thin them. Our early scorching heat killed all my radishes...and my mushrooms.
The plants we have out back in containers right now (we have no ground to put them in)
Lemon Cucs (supposed to be good for pickling, my next adventure lol)
oregano (not doing so hot)
Dill
basil
corn
carrots
tomatoes
bell peppers
hot peppers (assorted LOL...1 jalapeno...not sure what else because NOTHING else was growing so we just started throwing all the hot seed in there )
chives
Romanesco (a broc/cauliflower family veg)
and
my blueberry plant (usually takes 3yrs to get a "crop" so nothing yet)
Ok, I am out of time....
Have a nice day!

Only in my house and Only rebekah
I swear.....it is always her....
Last week, we went to the snow. Not much left but we found a good patch and had fun with our friends....
Afterwards we went to Outdoor world. The floors are concrete. THe kids were giving each other piggyback rides and somehow rebekah ends up nose first on the floor and bleeding.
Oh goody
So we paid and left and headed to urgent care because it really looked pretty bad. but outdoor world had given us an ice pack and gauze which was really nice.
Anyhow, clearly not dislocated but take xray just for the file(free nose job as an adult due to a break not just because)...as they do nothing for plain breaks only for dislocations. We were told the xray would not be stat and to take it and head home. Contact ped in 3 or 4 days for results. So home we headed.
Late Thur I email doc, nope no results. He asks a few questions. I answer. He answers it really sounds not broken and still no results...this was about 930pm friday night.
He called tonight. She needs to see ENT next week and to discontinue her flonase. She has a Cortical Irregularity Fracture at the base ( DH talked to doc)
yep only rebekah

Tomorrow
Is St Patrick's day.
My grandfather was born on st Patricks day and as an adult changed his middle name to Patrick. and he was Irish.
I was trying to find out the origin of the whole pinching thing...and learned that wearing orange is also approriate for the day....it all depends on who you support :)
I don't think I own either color.
We will be having corned beef and cabbage for dinner, Fresh homemade rye bread, green limeade (I cant find stupid lime koolaid this year....)and a white "poke cake" with lime jello. I have toyed with the idea of making colcannon just for the adventure and because it actually looks good....hey mommabear...its meat-free :)
Oh and an irish ale...importanted which one of my favorite checkers at the store asked if I had tried yet. I had to tell him I dont drink beer. He said Oh I dont like this one at all...thought it would be good, a guiness import irish ale but, it tastes like a normal domestic...eh I wont be drinking it and since I was already checking out I bought it anyway LOL
I also bought kiwi and green grapes to snack on tomorrow. I tried to find Riverdance to watch but no such luck.
I tried to buy white carnations to try something I read on a homeschool site but I couldnt find them at the store by themselves so I have a bouquet of white flowers on my table. I hope they will be green soon. You cut off the bottom 1-2" and then put in a vase with Emerald green water (green food coloring and water) and with in 24-48 the carnations are supposed to turn green. I took before pictures, i will let you know. Although DH and christine say they can see green already creeping into a few of the non carnations.
Oh yes and of course I will do laundry tomorrow LOL

So far this week
Saturday 2/16
Rebekahs GS troop had a tea party. They are working on a badge for manners. After the tea, I drove down the block and picked Christine up from her friends house. We had HOMEMADE pasta for dinner that night.
Sunday 2/17
I dont have a clue what we did lol...oh wait, Nathan, Christine and I went to the McClintock company store and bought Christine a prom dress. Cost less then $25...well worth the drive and the time
Monday 2/18
I know what I didnt do...WORK...Rebekah had Jazz ...for the first time in 2 wks....because she has been sick. We had falafel and ratatoule for dinner.
Tuesday 2/19
Took nathan to the Nurse PRactioner for an allergy referral....just now remembering I am supposed to call today (wed) to act on the referral....
I also managed to kick a laptop computer that was left on the floor. The computer has lost its covering over the CD drive....which proceded to make a nice wound on the side/bottom of my big toe on my right foot....its gross, it hurts....I havent really examined it ...just cleaned it and put a bandaid on it. When I kicked it, it hurts so bad, I guess I managed to give myself a bit of whiplash and my neck hurts. That made for a fun day and night of sleep. I actually remembered to take christine to her cooking class that night. We had matzoh ball soup, meatloaf and parsley red potatoes for dinner.
I also signed the little ones up for a math/reading online program similar to Aleks. They seem to be enjoying it so far. Nathan can reading no problem, rebekah can read but lacks confidence to demostrate it.
Wed 2/20
Horrible night's sleep. I am exhausted, my neck and shoulder are still painful....Christine had class this morning followed by bass lessons. She also has class tonight and I have no dinner planned. I am tired and in pain....Ivan will prob pick something up....not sure what...
I am currently waiting for a customer for tomorrow to call me back so, I know what we are doing tomorrow. Ivan was over booked so, he called his "help" this morning....at 1045am one of the people in for tomorrow called and said thursday isnt looking good, can we just make it friday? Of course I retrieved this message after I left him a time frame...Friday isnt possible, I have no clue if he still wants the service tomorrow since friday isnt possilbe. If he canceled, we will be UNDER BOOKED as his is a 2 spot call....with hired helped, I dont like to do that. I have someone who might be able to take his place but, I need to hear from him first....I have been waiting over 4 hrs now. I also had a guy scream at me and call me a liar....so I screamed back....which is really bad...as I used my "I am possessed" scream.....then ended the call
I also signed christine up for more cooking classes, rebekah for 2 new nature center classes (the class holds up to 20 but normally has less then 4) and put them on the waiting list for swim lessons in March
Thurs 2/21
Isnt here yet....
Rebekah goes to MIL from 11-1, then all 3 have gymnastics from 2-330 (nathan is 230-330) then I must have a planned dinner....we always feed the assistant
At noon, christine goes back to the music shop, til 130 when I will pick her up and go directly to Gymnastics.
See ya later

what we did this past week
Friday 2/8/08
We got up extra early to make it up to LA to Rebekah's cardiology appt. I took Rebekah and Nathan...both while still asleep. Ivan and Christine stayed behind because they were going on a field trip to the "museum of Tolerance". We got to the office, and drove thru the parking garage multiple times looking for parking. Finally found some, the kids got dressed and in the office we went. I had noticed the night before Rebekah appearred to be coming down with something and by the time we were at the office it was pretty obvious. (well actually I realized it when I carried her to the car, and she made me sweat). I put them down and check in. "You dont have an appt" the receptionist tells me. What? I just drove from Irvine here. I made an appt thru his nurse. Oh the nurse doesnt do appt. are you sure? Yes I am sure that is what we always do. She says have a seat, let me go ask. Next thing I know, the Cardiologist is standing there. He says I am sorry but I am already an hour behind and I have a meeting at noon. If I have a no show I will take you if I catch up. I give him the camp forms and he leaves. I sit there dumbfounded. The ride up was not fun....I knew rebekah was sick. I walk out to the elevator....then I come back and I ask the receptionist if the other Card has any openings. Nope he didnt. Hm ok....well she is sick and needs to see a ped if nothing else, I decide and since I am here...why go back to Irvine? I ask if any ped has an opening. And sure enough one does. Across the hall we go...right in, we see a ped. We get a script....It is now about 11. I go down fill the script and head home.
About 630 my phone rings. It is the PC. He says what happened to you? my 10 and my 11 didnt show. I went looking for you but, you were gone. I said I was across the hall, the receptionist made the appt. He says which one so, I describe (earing in the nose) he cant believe it. He asked if anyone knew what happened to us. He apologizes profusely and says in November a new appt system began and they have had a few mistakes because it requires more confirmation of the appt then before and if they dont follow all the way thru the appt isnt made. He makes us a new appt.
I was glad friday ended
Saturday 2/9
Nothing to thrilling. Nathan begins to get sick. Christine is still pretty blah because she has been sick and then was gone most of friday.
Oh and I cleaned and washed every bed. Opened all my windows. Cleaned both bathrooms, and all door handles, light switches and banisters with antibacterial stuff.....i want this sickness to go away.I did almost no other laundry that day....so my laundry pile needed a hiking stick to step over, or so christine said.
Sunday 2/10
Didnt do alot, Cant remember dinner. Christine went to a performance at IVC, she needed to attend one for both of her music classes. I took her and then picked her up. Right before I left to get her, Nathan fell asleep. When I walked back thru the door, he was screaming, disorientated and had red blotches EVERYWHERE....huge red blotches. Guess where we went next? Off to urgent care and the blotches looked horrid. We got there at 845, they close at 9. By the time we went back, the blotches had clearly become hives. OH GOODY! Benadryl and off to ped if they get worse. Then we go to pick up coffee. I drive past a shop, that I like opting for convience. Pull into the lot, the shop is dark, the sign is dark. Due to a sushi bar, we cant just pull up in front. I assume they are closed for good. Darn, I cant easily get back to the other shop. So, I go to the normal shop. Christine goes in (she seems to always accompany me to urgent care, with the exception of one visit that resulted in an almost ambulance ride..., by the time we are home the hives are GONE. We wrack our brains...no new food, no new detergent, no new anything....
Monday 2/11
Ivan, Nathan and Rebekah are far too sick for Park day. SUch a shame as it is the valentines party. But, Christine is going and they say have her bring their bags. And she does. They were so happy. (but that was later). At 1124...I know because I looked at the clock.....all of a sudden nathan has bumps and is really really itchy....the hives are back and came back worse. Ok benadryl....it takes over an hour for it to work this time. I decide this meets the worse part the urgent care said and I make an appt for Tuesday but, only after they make me hold for an advice nurse clearance that it isnt an emergency. At 630 guess what???? Yep, they are back...a few on the face this time. They are gone around 730..
Now benadryl instuctions are once every 6hrs.....
by 930, they are back....they are breaking thru the benadryl.....he Finally gets to sleep.
Tuesday 2/12
He wakes up COVERED....all over his face, everywhere, prob on his favorite body part too but, I didnt check. Dr appt at 1015, with his new primary care doc.....our old ped is gone and this is who we were dealt to. We have seen him before. He looks him over....hears the history. Says it pretty much sounds like an allergy....prescribes atarax for the itching for a 1 wk to 2 wks, PRedisone for 4 days. And not 1 but 2 epi pens, since we have no clue what the allergy is and it appears to be getting worse. Says avoid most common allergy foods...peanuts, eggs and all fish, including shell. OK but he hadnt eaten any of those in the days proceding first hive out break. He says there is an off chance, these are caused by a virus but given that he has had hives before and had other sensitivity issues, prob not.
He then checks his ears and proclaims them a bit red. And prescibes rashy, allergy boy amoxicillin. Odd, to me considering we early discussed Rebekahs amox allergy. I ask for allergy referral, he informs me that they must try these things first. I am not amused
Off I go to fill scrips, still plenty of time to get to rebekahs 1245 girl scout field trip.
I turn them in, they say about 30min ....that will work....close but it will work. I stop to see if I can change primary dr after discussion with the NP's nurse. (who said I should bring Nathan back to see her...but she wasnt in at that time)...Someone decides to butt in and has no clue what she is talking about, keeps cutting me off.....I snapped told her if she wasnt going to listen to all of the story then mind her own business. (she heard me mention old dr and was convinced I wanted to change to that ped..who I love and miss).
It is now noon....no scripts....2 people who came after me have left....I am stressing because being on time for the field trip was important. I call Christine ask her to make sure Rebekah is dressed. and I get in line, figure I will pick up what is available and deal with the rest later. Well apparently every one of the 3 people in front of me have some kind of problem. I finally get to the window and she says "your name is not up there? they have been ready for awhiel now" ARGGGGGGG and of course then they make dr explain every one of the 4 scripts to me.
I FLY out of there....it is 1225. I still havent mapquested directions. I get home, I mapquest them and then find rebekah NOT READY....no shoes....no vest...she is off in la la land with the shoes. I tell her repeatedly put them on in the car...I call the troop leadeer and leave a message apologizing profusely and say I am on my way....I finally get her in the car....she goofed off long enough that nathan got all of his meds. And we go......by stroke of luck, the troop leader had just gotten there a few minutes before me....It was 1pm! We help out in the thrift shop, cleaning, straightening, some shopping, we learn how they do it, I talk with adults I actually like, and then we learn why and where the procededs go.
I stop at the grocery store on the way home for dinner...hmm cant recall anything besides the matzo ball soup.
I get home at 330. At 9pm....I realized we had all forgotten Christines cooking class. Talk about guilt. I spent the whole day busy with the little ones and forgot her.
Oh and Predisone is a steriod, if you didnt know....
4yr old boys on steroids is fun....combined with extreme sleepy from the atarax
Wed 2/13
Christine has music in the AM....about an hour later she has bass lessons. Our normal wednesday auto deposit doesnt come. The park across from bass lessons is closed so, we have to sit in the car instead. We eat pretzels and drink hawaiian punch, and read a chapter of peter pan. Christine had voice at 7pm....by now I am exhausted with my week. We decide to go veggie picking on friday for the food bank. MIL calls, she is still sick dont bring rebekah over tomorrow.
Thurs 2/14
Valentines day. MIL calls, not sick bring rebekah over. I do but we are 20min late because someone stayed up to late the night before and is having trouble getting it together. Ivan reported he was asleep on the couch when rebekah tapped on his arm a 2am and said Christine fell asleep, he told her as she should have and so should you. I run out for dinner stuff (chicken marsala, mushroom risotto, roasted asparagus and chocolate lava cake....), I go pickup a new car stereo for Ivan. Return my calls (yes in the middle of every M_F day I have phone calls for the business to deal with....none of which are included here) I go pick up rebekah. We come home for about 20mins then head off to Gymnastics. Christine couldnt make it last week, she was sick. And rebekahs friend from Girl scouts wasnt there this week because she was sick. They all had fun. Nathan had his own class this time....his class mates are ethan and Nate....
We came home, made dinner, picked up.....I think I managed 2 loads of laundry on thursday....pile slowly gets smaller. we ate. The cake was awesome. We watched "Lost" and said lots of WTF's? And I went to bed....I was beat. Right after I went to bed, my phone rang....friend of ours who was going to join us picking, she had just RSVPd yesterday and due to rain, the veggie picking was canceled....sob we were really looking forward to it
Fri 2/15
I get up and check my email, realize that the veggie picking announcement came out really late so, I call the people I told. Christine has to change her plans...she was going home with friend after picking then going to disney and spending the night at her house. They decide to pick her up at 1130. At 11, the screw drops out of christine glasses, that I knew was loose and forgot to stop and get fixed after gymnastics. Followed by minutes later, the pad coming off Ivans. Friends show up, they follow ivan to optometrist office for repair (it was on the way) and off they go. Ivan runs his other errand and then he comes home and we go to the used bookstore YAH....but they still dont have the #10book I want....I buy 11 & 12. I still have my 25% off B & N thing and some money left on my GC. We go out to outback because christine hates the place and isnt home. Then we go get my book at B & N. Now Iam listening to sibling fighting in the living room. Not my children. Kids from next door....big sister is being really mean to her brother.
and that is all....
Will have to do for now
***taken from a xanga blog....I have expanded it here a bit....hope to expand more as time permits***
We just got back from Vegas. We had a nice time. We went under the disguise of an Industry convention, which we did attend...but really went to have a good time...and usually a cheap time but this year the convention fell on Superbowl Sunday weekend which made it a bit more costly.
We went to a "pinball museum" and played old pinball and video games...I now hold top score #1 & 2 on mario brothers. The kids and I rode the Excalibur's 4-D rides...expensive but the kids enjoyed them...well the younger two at least.
We went to the Ethel M chocolate factory tour (neat tour....would have been neater if I had realized it was sunday so the actual working would not be going on)
Ate dinner at a Louisiana style crawfish place with some friends also attending the show....in the middle of what appeared to be little asia or similar...we were the only white people in the joint! Good crawfish/craydads whatever you want to call them....spicey but good....and messy...which of course means fun and memorable...
Ate at Dick's last resort....101 ways to teach children bad eating manners...but OH SO MUCH FUN! Hopefully christine will treat you all to pictures as I have not quite figured out how to do so! (we went to dicks after sticking our head in at 9 fine irishmen to meet up with a group from a website....that was really a bomb this time around...the group was too big, they sent them on the balcony....which was cold without enough seats...we left after about 45 long cold min....only to discover now that we are home that they finally moved them to the downstairs large patio with heaters after we left....eh dicks was still more fun!)
oh yah and I read....finished my last book ,completed another (3rd in the Plum series) and am almost done with the one listed....should be done by tonight.
Glad to be home...as usual barely scratched the surface of what to do in Vegas....(the tropicana has a titanic exhibit and a bodies exhibit at the moment....the small version of the hermitage in the venitian....and so many other things) but, we were there long enough....My head is congested and the kids are coughing...can only handle so long of cig smoke everywhere...
On Saturday night, as we prepared to head out, I switched to from "mom bag" to small purse for phone, id and money....Only one little problem...could not locate ID....knowing had had not taken it out anywhere since being in vegas, I hoped it was at home. I can not find it now that we are home....totally clueless when I lost it....DMV has no appt til March 3rd to replace...I will prob attempt to walk in....eh was due to renew in August...and lazy me, never changed my name on it when I got married....they kept sending me renewals and who wants to actually go to the DMV??

A week in review
Ha ha
Just so no one "yells" at me.
Monday
hmm that was a long time ago....I feel the need to look at my calendar for some help. Ok we had park day that day. Spent a few hours at the park...had a few laughs. Came home then Rebekah had Jazz and Ballet that evening. And I cant remember anything else ha ha
Tuesday
the usual tuesday run to and from IVC. Also finally got the concurrent enrollment form filled out and turned in. That evening rebekah had a class at the Nature center on animals. I was worried because the last early evening class thru the city I signed her up for was a bust..... it was in a giant room with one corner for the cooking class, the other for art with the middle of the room being the after school program. Luckily this was in a seperate building with only 3 kids signed up....of which only 2 showed. Nathan and I hung at the park while the class was going on til it became dark and cold and then we sat in the car. We had southwest stew and cornbread for dinner.
Wednesday
I know I went to the grocery store....OH AND THE POST OFFICE to mail a care package to "B company" Oh yah and the Tustin Farmers market. They had fresh roasted peanuts...by fresh I mean...on site roasting. I was looking for romanesca broccoli....it is becoming popular in recipes but I cant find it....unless I grow it myself. That evening Rebekah had ballet and christine went to watch a show at a swing dance competition. OH YES and my younger 2 along with the neighbor children destroyed my living room. They were nicely playing a game. Ivan went next door to ask their dad what he was doing on thanksgiving and suddnely the children had EVERY GAME out and spread across the floor.
Thursday....
Thanksgiving. I made 1 pecan pie and the stuff for pumpkin pie which produced THREE pies eeegaaads....Ivan made apple....for some odd reason one pumpkin pie never cooked right....very strange
We had turkey and stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, a new sweet potatoe recipe (that was not very good...unless you like sweet potatoe soup), mashed potatoes and a vegetable creation with brussel sprouts, cauliflower and regular broccoli (see wed)....in a Lemon/caper/garlic butter...the butter was supposed to have marjoram in it but I didnt have any....which was prob good because thats alot of flavor.
Friday
I went to Joanns and bought a ton of fleece for blankets at a really good price 2.79 a yard. Then we all trekked up to the natural history museum and the California Science center. We didnt see all of either museum. Rebekah hadnt really slept the night before and normally museums are on limited time anyway. We saw the gems (YAH!!!) all the insects, and the animal dioramas....which I was suprised the little ones enjoyed...
Then we saw most of the 2nd floor at the science center before they were just tapped. I figured the 3rd floor grossology exhibit, while they would enjoy, is coming to the local science center so, we could skip it with no guilt lol. Rebekah was fascinated by the surgery area of the science center and nathan....well...he seemed to like the bacteria and the reproduction area....spending ages watching the baby chicks and the almost hatched eggs, followed by replaying this one model thing...you moved a bullseye over different reproduction organs...and it gave a nice little blurb on them and how they related to DNA...of course he know has a new word for his collection....testicles.
And that brings us to today...
SATURDAY
so far, I have done 3 loads of laundry....Ivan is at the gun show with the neighbor. Christine is watching his kids....mine are over there playing ha ha. ANd I sit blogging sorta....need to move laundry in a second. They are supposed to be home around 1. Then Christine will get ready and we will take her out to celebrate thanksgiving in Riverside with friends. THe boys are cooking and the girls will be at the mall until dinner time. The boys claim the girls mess everything in the kitchen up. Dinner was to be held at a park but it is pretty windy here so, it is being relocated.
Sunday I have nothing planned.
This coming week....brings a trip to Discovery science center in place of our normal girl scout meeting (crap still need to do experiment) Rebekah has a birthday party on wednesday at 4pm at an indoor jump place....Saturday is the charity shoot....and I still need to find jars for the raffle. I am not going this year but am pretty sure Christine will do fine. I am sure she will have plenty of help too. No babysitter for the little ones since inlaws are in Israel.
Have a good week. I am off to move laundry and perhaps read or make a blanket....I have about 25 to make for upcoming "endeavor"
Just so no one "yells" at me.

Saturday morning journey
to Farmers Market.
I love going to the Farmers market. The bigger the better as far as I am concerned. More things to choose from.
We bought:
2 eggplant....the italian ones....the actual egg shaped ones, although we saw Japanese, Chinese and fairy tales (I have seeds for fairy tales)
2 bags of zucchini
2 bags of blue lake beans
the usual container of apple juice...that everyone is afraid to drink because it tastes good and they want to savor the taste
fresh grapes....green and red...later we saw black too but we already had a ton of grapes
there was a juice vendor we had not seen before...we bought apple peach juice from her....tastes more like a smoothly style drink or a daiquiri then a juice....not think like those tho
Potato bread
banana nut bread
2 tomatoes...because I couldnt decide
and fresh salsa
I think that sums it up.
They actually had fresh organic chickens.....but since right off I didnt have a plan for them I did not buy them
We have a ton of plums from a customer so we kept the fruit to a minimum this time.
There was a vendor there with a pear squash. I was curious but decided against it. It was big and shaped just like a pear (duh) but looked in terms of skin more like a summer squash...but the shape reminded me of a winter squash....but it is too early for winter....
think I will google it to see if it comes up.
OH and my own zuchini is starting to sprout.
EDIT TO ADD: Google did not turn up the squash we saw...it turned up a squash/papaya thing....much smaller then what we saw...
maybe I will be brave next time and give it a whirl

Obsessed
yes I am obsessed....
with what you ask??
gardening....
I have no yard but oh so enjoy it.....many moons ago, I dug up a large area behind my dads garage for my garden. Bush beans, broccoli, corn and hmmm carrots or radishes....although I don't care for radishes when planting size wise they work pretty good....and I know lots of people that like them.
A few years back we attempted a small container garden without too much luck....a few beans....but mostly we grew white flies.
OK I actually have been craving gardening again......been staring at the old containers and finally....a bit late in the season....I did it
Currently growing carrots, bush peas, tomatoes, and basil. Waiting for Catnip to spout. Will be planting bush beans (color trio variety), and green peppers.....
I have seeds for a few more things that Rebekah insisted we have but really lack the container space.
The carrots are a long trio of color variety....I have since learned not a good choice....hard to grow long carrots in less then ideal soil. The peas should do good as they currently look really hardy. I left the basil planting to DH and well, it has issues....he way over planted....we have ground cover, not basil plants....I tried thinning....by moving some but those moved died....but those still in the container look good. The tomatoes are two types, a 8oz tomato and a small cherry....I have read the catnip is almost weed like and is a member of the mint family....should be interesting.
I joined an email list for container gardening. I bought a container blueberry but, they wont send it to me til end of next winter (because of our zone). I also learned how to container garden corn....and pineapple...which sounds like fun.
I currently am waiting for a mini cantaloupe that is supposed to do good in containers and lemon cukes....although I don't like cukes too much, I thought we could have fun pickling them.
OH and the one that makes DH think I have flipped my lid. I ordered mushroom kits....white button and portabella.
I have also located a container avocado and nectarine....but no room for them...yes I am showing restraint.
Rebekah wants to grow cauliflower too.....I found a good container seeds for cauliflower but they were out of it...prob a good thing.
I also have broccoli seeds and radish seeds that Rebekah insisted we needed.....no where to put them tho'
Oh and I learned about SWCs....self watering containers....the authentic ones are a fortune to buy but you can make your own and sometimes buys small knock offs...(same concept, different design...but not really very big) which is what I have the catnip in and plan to put the green pepper in.
I also hear that Jalapenos are good bug repellant plants....maybe I will NEED to have some of those
HA HA HA HA

Summer
subtitled why I homeschool
I was thinking about what is planned for the summer and it occurred to me, my children get to experience soooooo much....that is my favorite part about Homeschooling. It allows them the time to explore things.
Christine has learned sign language and had the opportunity to use it alot. She will be attending a silent weekend over the summer. She is also doing a summer camp at sea. They will learn how to sail and work the masts on a ship. And live on the ship for the week. They will get marine biology and astonomy too. She also has some swing dance classes lined up for the summer and a cake decorating class. In the fall at the community college, she plans to continue her sign language and take a music mixing (i think it is) class along with an art history class. She is currently upstairs practicing her bass. I think she has lessons starting this week. Maybe she will let me know HA HA. She also had a cooking class scheduled but that has been canceled.
Rebekah is taking an art class in the summer, a play gym style class...playful gymnatics (kids gym....), a hula class thru her dance studio, A dance camp (oh yah christine has that too), and a week long day camp at the discovery science center. Girl scouts is pretty much over for the summer but, that is something too I really dont think we would have time for if they were in school. I am actually looking for a few more dance or jumping type classes for rebekah. She loves to dance but with the auditory delay issues she doesnt get it as quick and I would love to give her a bit extra so she doesnt stikc out sooo much.
Nathan is taking an art class too...but, he is content and still young enough to be happy staying home with mommy.
Both Rebekah and nathan want to take Karate. That will wait til fall.
But, I just love seeing the kids explore new things and interests to THEIR hearts content....or my pocket books content....whichever comes first (it is usually the pocket book!)

what we have been up to..a museum tour
On Saturday Christine attended the first of 3 classes she has at http://www.mopa.org/.
While she was in class, we(Ivan, Rebekah, Nathan and I) wandered around Balboa Parkhttp://www.balboapark.org/. We have done this a few times before (last was for the Warhol exhibit at the art museum).
This time we went into the Automobile museumhttp://www.sdautomuseum.org. They had a Tucker on display (which I thought was pretty cool). They also had a police car exhibit and a real life "Guido" (from cars)
After we grabbed a bite and the sandwich shop just inside the Hall of Champions http://www.sdhoc.com. We did not go in because I dont think anyone except the adults would care at all.
The we went over to Ivan favorite museum, The Air and Space Museum http://www.sandiegoairandspace.org/.
It just so happened to be space day 2007 so they had telescopes set up on the lawn and a bunch of displays in the dome. The building itself is pretty neat and has a bit of local history. It was originally built by Ford motor for the International Expo. The dome is actually a octa-tetra structure which I realized on my first visit while laying in the dome/courtyard looking up. (http://familyclassroom.net/hsboys/articles/octa-tetra.html)
And then it was time to go pickup Christine and head off to a birthday party.
This coming weekend we hope to hit a puppet show at The Marie Hitchock puppet theater http://www.balboaparkpuppets.com. Too bad we were a bit late last week, it was the Princess and the Pea. This weekend it is a Grimm brothers Tale I am not familar with. Not sure what we will hit after that. Then when Christine gets out we will visit the Museum of Man http://www.museumofman.org/ which I hear IS NOT everyone favorite due to a large display on evolution. Both of the girls wanted to go there on our last visit to see the Tattoo and adornment display but we were out of time and now that exhibit is gone. But they do have a hands on exhibit as well as an Indian Fair and 2 good egypt/mummy displays. Perhaps we will see the history museum now that they are in the free with discovery science center membership group (I forget the name). Last time we went, they werent and if not for the chocolate display, I would have been disappointed at the money spent as they are a bit more then the other museums. I can't currently get their website to work (gateway timeout) to see what the current special display is. But, I can see at the end of June they will have the something on the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The weekend after, Rebekah will be at camp. Christine wants to see the art museums, The San Diego Museum of Art http://www.sdmart.org, and/or The Timken http://www.timkenmuseum.org/.
I, personally would like to see the Veterans Museum http://www.veteranmuseum.org.
We shall see.
They also have a railway museum that is constantly changing, a carousel and of course the zoo.

What have you done for me lately?
Ok not really...
More like what we have done lately.....
Although I really hate making posts like this....I always feel like I am making a shopping list...
We (meaning Rebekah) cleaned out her video shelf and we took the old ones up to Kaiser because most of their pediatric rooms are still working their way into the DVD age, we also delivered a few books we picked up at our park days book swap. We went to the renaissance faire, it was fun but too hot for most members of my family.
The weather has warmed up so, we also spent a little bit of time at the beach.
and wow, now I cant remember anything else....need to get the calendar out
Ah yes, we attempted to spend a few hours at the CHN (california homschool network) campout...at Oneil Park but that didnt turn out too well. We left our house 2 hours later then I intended and then the kids whined and whined and whined....I think we ended up being there about an hour. We also attended a birthday party. Rebekah spent most of the time in the pool. Now if she would just SWIM.
Today, with Girl scouts we went to build a bear.....I think they need a nice quiet area ....not just quiet...sound proof for parents.....where we can drink coffee and read a book.....I have nothing against kids, but white noise drives me insane so the white noise and the kids, really tests my limits in the store, outside was fine but actually in there WHOA
Tomorrow is a cardiology visit, Rebekah is scared. She thinks he is going to ambush her and perform surgery right then. Tomorrow also brings the montly sign night at starbucks in Orange. Saturday Christine has a photography class at MOPA. Actually every saturday in May she does....we will visit various museums normally after the class except tomorrow as she has a birthday party to attend.
Yep that what we've done lately...
outside of the normal that is...(dance, park, girlscouts and various other normal errands)

Geocaching
We have been geocaching alot this week. I think we logged 11 new caches since last sunday night. Its all about the hunt.....and finding it but, not so much about the actual object you find. We have seen caches that look like bottle caps, security cameras, tree leaves and all sorts of other this week alone. Some contain nothing more then a log, some contain silly toys, or awarenss bracelets or the occasional travel bug.
We went to my moms and showed them a few local caches yesterday. One they had just passed 2 days ago at the drive thru at walgreens. Another was a box in a field for exchanging books. I know there is one for exchanging movies in Temecula.
There are over 20 local (under 2miles) away from our home. Its a fun family adventure and most can be done at all hours of the day.
All you need is a gps device.
